International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing
The International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing (ICAM) is a yearly conference on advanced manufacturing comprising of additive and 3D printing of various classes of materials is a rapidly growing area with significant interest from all the major federal agencies. The conference provides an opportunity to showcase research expertise and infrastructure to the global federal agencies and leading experts. The overarching goal of ICAM is to initiate new programs and collaborations.

 

Virginia Tech Veteran's Workshop - September 15, 2017
The Virginia Tech Veteran’s Workshop is a consortium of academia, industry, and government agencies working together to benefit unemployed veterans. The group’s goal is to develop a curriculum for veterans that will train them for in-demand jobs in growing fields; taking advantage of their experience, training, and leadership to help propel veterans into post-military careers.

Smart composites and 2D materials are also of interest within the framework of energy, and special sessions will be organized covering these areas. The attendees will have an opportunity to gain in-depth information on the sub-topical areas such as (but not limited to) piezoelectric materials, actuators and motors; energy harvesting mechanisms and implementation techniques; energy conversion processes; new generation of energy materials; energy storage; low-power electronics for energy harvesters; and self-powered systems.
